AccuWeather's expert meteorologists anticipate a cold transition from October to November in the Northeast and Great Lakes, as a strong cold front will bring brisk conditions. Temperatures will be 5-15 degrees lower than historical averages in the early part of the week. This will mark the coldest air since last spring, leading to the first frost for many and the end of the growing season. In fact, parts of the Northeast will get the first snowfall of the season.

A Canadian storm will bring snow showers to parts of the Great Lakes and Northeast, from eastern Minnesota to Maine, on Tuesday and Wednesday. AccuWeather meteorologists suggest the potential for a slushy coating to an inch of snow, especially in areas downwind of the Great Lakes, which could result in slippery and slow travel. A coastal storm is anticipated to develop off the mid-Atlantic coast, spreading rain along the coastal regions from the Delmarva Peninsula to the southern coast of New England.
Businesses in the area of the Northeast and Great Lakes should prepare for the following:
- Prioritize cold weather concerns for outdoor workers.
- Expect ground logistics disruption in the event of poor driving conditions.
- Protect your company against liability by ensuring any employees driving in bad weather on company time are trained in safe, cautious driving techniques and know the actions to take in the event of an accident.
