This weather pattern is expected to develop in the Gulf of Mexico early in the weekend and then move north along the Southeast coast into Sunday and then up the Eastern Seaboard through Monday.

Ahead of this storm, a persistent easterly flow over the central and South Florida peninsula will bring heavy rain persisting through Friday. The storm can soak southeastern Florida with several inches of rain and flooding downpours, leading to dangerous travel conditions.

Little, if any, snow is anticipated with this system because of a lack of colder air across the region.

Businesses in the path of this storm should prepare for the following:

  • Tornado potential should be watched closely; keep sheltering options in mind
  • Business interruption due to extended power outages can be expected
  • Expect ground logistics disruption due to road closures, downed trees and power outages
