AccuWeather’s expert meteorologists warn businesses about severe weather that will return to the Northeast and last into early next week. These businesses should prepare for severe thunderstorms producing heavy rainfall that will impact business operations. The ground is already saturated from several days of heavy rainfall. The additional rainfall from several rounds of storms in the flood-ravaged area could cause life-threatening flooding through Tuesday. AccuWeather For Business clients using AccuWeather's SkyGuard® Warnings get site-specific, advance notice, and one-on-one consultations with a meteorologist before, during, and after the storms.

Rainfall amounts across the Northeast in general could reach up to 4 inches through Tuesday. Up to 8 inches of rain could fall in southeastern New York up into western Maine. There is an AccuWeather Local StormMax™ of 14 inches.

Along with the heavy rainfall, severe thunderstorms will roll through primarily during the afternoon and evening hours. These storms bring risks, including flooding downpours, localized damaging wind gusts and the potential for isolated tornadoes. There is an AccuWeather Local StormMax™ of 80 mph.

Businesses in these areas should keep an eye on this system and should:

  • Identify hazards most likely to impact your location and cause business disruptions.
  • Take steps to minimize inventory loss due to flooding from torrential rain. If your warehouse is in a low-lying area, you should take precautions.
  • Prepare for possible disruption to ground logistics due to road closures from damaging winds, flooded roads and power outages.

Lives and property could be at stake, making it vital for businesses to take precautionary measures. Be proactive with AccuWeather's SkyGuard® Warnings, which will deliver site-specific alerts and offer warnings well before severe weather hits, giving you much-needed time to be prepared.
