Billy Clark’s love for weather goes back to his childhood when he would experience thunderstorms during his summertime visits to his grandparent's home in southeast Pennsylvania. He grew up in San Diego, CA, known for its mild weather, which he considered boring. So, when more significant storms moved into the city, they stood out to him. Billy also enjoyed science in school, so going to college for meteorology just seemed like a natural fit.
Billy graduated with his degree in meteorology from Penn State University. Upon graduation, he applied to AccuWeather and accepted an offer to work at the fast-paced AccuWeather For Business Operations Center in Wichita, KS.
Today, Billy is a Senior Storm Warning Meteorologist and a Shift Coordinator. He helps to warn businesses of dangerous weather conditions. Billy leads AccuWeather's Proof of Performance (PoP) team, which looks for successful forecasts and storm warnings to help with marketing and sales initiatives.
As a meteorologist, Billy enjoys forecasting all types of hazardous weather, but his favorites are tropical weather, severe weather, and flooding rainfall. He also has fond memories of experiencing blizzards during his visits to his grandparent's house, such as the President’s Day Blizzard of 2003. His most memorable weather event as an adult was chasing the tornadoes in Dodge City on May 24, 2016, when he simultaneously witnessed three tornadoes on the ground.
Billy enjoys working alongside his co-workers and considers them family. He finds his job so exciting; it doesn’t feel like work. When Billy is not forecasting the weather, he enjoys hiking, disc golf, tennis, pickleball, running, biking, gardening, and walking his two dogs.
