AccuWeather's expert meteorologists are warning businesses about a storm that will bring snow, ice, and rain to parts of the Midwest and Northeast through Friday. To be better prepared, we recommend businesses utilize AccuWeather's severe weather warnings - which have proven to protect life, safety, and property better than our competitors.
The storm will bring rain along with some pockets of snow or ice across parts of the Midwest on Thursday. Farther east, the same storm will produce pockets of sleet, freezing rain, and snow in parts of New England and bring rain across the Ohio Valley and Northeast. Northern parts of New England and Canada will see snow as well.
Snow showers could make some roads slippery around Chicago and Indianapolis Thursday night into Friday. Travel disruptions across parts of the Midwest and interior Northeast are likely as the storm taps into colder air and drop more snow and a wintry mix before the end of the week. Businesses should be mindful of road conditions that may become hazardous. Another threat with this system is that the snow will be sticky and wet, cling to trees and power lines, leading to isolated power outages and tree damage.
Some of the heaviest snow will fall within the St. Lawrence Valley from Montreal to Quebec City Thursday night into Friday. Areas in northern New England and parts of Ontario and Quebec, Canada, have the greatest chance for significant snow, including several inches to a foot or more.
Businesses in the path of this system should prepare for the following:
