Steven Root serves as Senior Vice President of Strategic Initiatives at AccuWeather, bringing decades of experience in pioneering meteorological applications for consumers, businesses, and governments. A co-inventor of over 40 patents, he has been instrumental in advancing renewable energy projects, including wind, geothermal, and solar initiatives. As President of the American Weather and Climate Industry Association, Steven holds both BS and MS degrees from the University of Utah, is a Certified Consulting Meteorologist (CCM), and a Fellow of the American Meteorological Society (AMS). His accolades include the AMS Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Advance of Applied Meteorology (2013), the Henry T. Harrison Award for Outstanding Contributions by a Consulting Meteorologist (2019), and the Kenneth C. Spengler Award (2025) for exemplary leadership in fostering the growth of the American Weather Enterprise.

Gabriel Donnini - Panelist

Vice President of Data and Analytics, Global Partners

Gabriel Donnini oversees the development of Global Partners’ modern data capabilities, leading the team and platform that drive analytics, machine learning, and AI solutions across the organization. The data team empowers Global’s business units to optimize supply chains, enhance pricing strategies, and unlock insights from one of the largest terminal and gasoline station networks across the country. Before joining Global Partners, Gabriel built and led analytics and data science teams at Drizly, Chewy, and a number of companies across the Boston Startup Scene, where he honed expertise in machine learning, analytics, and navigating data challenges in highly regulated industries. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Ithaca College. Based in Massachusetts, Gabriel enjoys gardening, carpentry, and exploring local restaurant scene with his family.

Jonathan Porter

Senior Vice President, Weather Content and Forecast Operations and Chief Meteorologist - AccuWeather

Jonathan Porter is AccuWeather’s Senior Vice President, Weather Content and Forecast Operations, and Chief Meteorologist. He is one of AccuWeather’s most accomplished subject matter experts. In this key leadership role, he blends his background in meteorology, weather news forecasting, and information technology to collaborate with the world’s leading government meteorological services and other key data providers to acquire top-tier weather information and content to integrate the most advanced weather data and technologies into AccuWeather’s products and services. Jon led AccuWeather’s B2B unit, AccuWeather For Business (formerly AccuWeather Enterprise Solutions or AES), for four years, delivering valuable new products to the company’s portfolio to help businesses minimize losses and liability while maximizing profits and operational efficiency. AccuWeather For Business achieved significant growth during his tenure.

Jon joined AccuWeather in 2004 after graduating from Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Meteorology and a minor in Information Technology. For several years, Jon was a software engineer on a dedicated team, writing software to quickly and accurately process weather content through AccuWeather’s Enterprise IT Architecture. After serving as a Technical Account Manager, working directly with top global digital media partners to help them integrate data and content with their products, Jon was named Director of Innovation and Development in 2012 and promoted to Vice President of Innovation and Development in 2015.

Jon is a Professional Member of the American Meteorological Society. In 2012, he was appointed to the AMS Committee on Weather Analysis and Forecasting. He also serves on an alumni committee for Penn State’s Department of Meteorology. Jon frequently delivers presentations at conferences and professional meetings – specifically focused on the exchange of weather data and warnings.
