Joseph Bauer

Joseph Bauer

Operational Meteorologist

Joseph Bauer is an operational meteorologist at AccuWeather and a member of the long-range team. Joseph started working with AccuWeather for Business in 2015 as a Storm Warning Meteorologist in Wichita, Kansas. While in Wichita, he forecasted and actively warned many extreme weather events from the historic West Coast winter season of 2016-17 to Hurricane Harvey in 2017 to various severe weather events across the Plains. Now, he leverages this experience with the long-range team to identify the potential for extreme weather events weeks to months ahead of time. He also is the leader of the internal postmortem team which seeks to analyze past weather events and produce reports to improve the accuracy of future forecasts. 
 
Joseph graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor's degree from the College of Science. While there he was heavily involved in the local meteorological association and is still an active member in the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association. He has visited area middle and high schools to teach youth about the wide range of careers in STEM and has a passion for outreach and science communication, particularly with respect to extreme weather. Joseph is happily married with two beautiful daughters.

Thomas Bedard

Implementation Manager, Meteorologist

Tom Bedard is an Implementation Manager and Meteorologist at AccuWeather for Business. In this role, Tom is responsible for integrating AccuWeather’s business services into their client’s business continuity and emergency preparedness operations. He leads a team of technical support and emergency preparedness specialists who provide AFB clients with onboarding, training, and enterprise support.

Tom holds a bachelor’s degree in Meteorology from Penn State and has previously worked as a FEMA course developer, FEMA course instructor, and risk management analyst. He has been an active volunteer firefighter/EMT for over a decade, regularly works with local emergency management agencies, and also serves as a search and rescue K9 handler for human remains detection. Tom was the 2019-2021 Chair of the American Meteorological Society’s Committee on Emergency Management.
