The tornado caused significant damage, flipping over several tractor-trailers and cars, tearing roofs from buildings, and leaving thousands without power. AccuWeather meteorologists warned of the threat of tornadoes more than 36 hours before storms moved into the area, providing the most advance notice before any other source.  Two hours before the tornado hit, AccuWeather meteorologists issued an AccuWeather Alert™ for Tornado Threat.
