SNOW-MOVING STORM

AccuWeather’s team of 100+ meteorologists is closely monitoring a slow-moving storm developing across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic that will bring heavy rain, gusty winds, and accumulating snow this weekend. AccuWeather For Business recommends companies prepare now for the threat of severe weather. By signing up for AccuWeather’s  SkyGuard®  Warnings, clients will receive pinpoint forecasts and advance warnings as the storm approaches.

The Southeast will see heavy rain and thunderstorms on both Saturday and Sunday. The effects of this storm can lead to localized flooding and travel disruptions.

West Virginia to northern Georgia and Alabama will see snow Saturday evening. Businesses will see a coating to an inch of snow, with higher totals in the higher elevations of the Appalachian Mountains. Up to 12 inches can fall in southeastern West Virginia along the border of Tennessee and North Carolina. There is an AccuWeather Local StormMax™ of 30 inches in areas higher than 3,500 feet.

Businesses in these areas should keep an eye on the storm:

  • Retail: Shovel and salt walkways, dry high-traffic areas inside near entrances, and keep all floors clear to help prevent falls and reduce liability.
  • Take precautions if your warehouse is in a low-lying area; loss of Inventory due to flooding is possible
  • Expect travel and ground logistics disruptions from snow-covered and flooded roads, downed trees, and power outages due to road closures.
