Severe weather is targeting the Plains with dangerous storms, intense downpours, and flash flooding

SEVERE WEATHER SWEEPS THE PLAINS

Businesses across the Plains need to prepare for severe weather that will move through the area late Thursday through Friday night. The storm system could bring gusty thunderstorms, isolated tornadoes, intense downpours, and flash flooding in some locations. The Midwest into northern Texas will start to see rain and showers Thursday night, followed by more intense storms with the threat of flash flooding, hail, and damaging winds. 

By Friday, the storm's energy will slowly move eastward, and the threat of severe weather will focus across central and eastern Texas, Oklahoma, and into the Ozarks. Damaging wind gusts could reach up to 65 mph, with AccuWeather Local StormMax™ at 80 mph.  

These storms could bring heavy downpours Friday night across central Texas and could see severe weather into the overnight hours. The main concern for businesses will be the threat of tornadoes and straight line winds.

The risk of flooding and strong thunderstorms will move across the area from the Louisiana coast to parts of Iowa and Wisconsin. Rain is much needed in the Mississippi River basin despite the flooding threat.
