KAY EYEING THE SOUTHWEST
AccuWeather meteorologists are monitoring Hurricane Kay, churning to the Southwest of Mexico's Baja Peninsula, for impacts on the United States late this week and into the weekend. Some areas in the southwest could see dangerous hazards, including heavy downpours and flash flooding.
Kay is making its way northwestward over the next few days and is expected to be a tropical storm as it approaches the U.S. Friday and Saturday.
Kay's main impact will be heavy downpours across Southern California, and some areas could see dangerous winds, flash flooding, and mudslides. Some could see stray lightning strikes that could spark new wildfires. Portions of Arizona will also see thunderstorms.
