COASTAL STORM CONCERNS

Organizing storms near the northern Bahamas will bring the threat of rain and gusty winds up the East Coast this weekend and into early next week. The severity of the storms will depend on the storm's track, strength, and nature.

Before the storm hits, Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern states will see a significant warmup Friday and Saturday, along with dry conditions. A shift in the weather will happen late Saturday through Sunday from North Carolina into the Mid-Atlantic states as the storm moves up the East Coast.

Beaches from the Outer Banks will be in the threat zone up to southern New England. The impacts would be similar to a tropical system, with possible wind, rain, and minor coastal flooding. Very heavy rainfall in areas of the Northeast is possible from later this weekend to early next week.
