AccuWeather's expert meteorologists are watching a powerful storm system that will move through the central U.S. early next week, bringing a mixed bag of severe weather that businesses should start preparing for now. To be better prepared, we recommend businesses utilize AccuWeather's severe weather warnings - which have proven to protect life, safety, and property better than our competitors.
Severe weather will develop across eastern portions of the Southern Plains Monday afternoon before moving eastward into the Lower Mississippi Valley Monday night. Hazards with these storms will include isolated tornadoes, wind gusts up to 60 mph, and flash flooding. Storms will move east out of the Southern Plains late Monday night and out of the Lower Mississippi Valley by early Tuesday morning.
Heavy snow will begin to fall in the Front Range of Colorado overnight Sunday, spreading northeastward into the Northern Plains Monday morning and the Upper Midwest by Monday afternoon. The heaviest snowfall of up to 12 inches at a rate of 1 inch an hour will fall from central Nebraska through portions of the Dakotas, central Minnesota, and northern Wisconsin.
